Set up your first Property and Units
3 min read
Configure a Property, its timezone and its accommodation Units.
A Property is the operational boundary for guests, stays, surveys, sending settings and access. A Unit is an optional named accommodation inside that Property, such as Room 204, Villa 3 or Suite A. ELUNIA records these items; it is not the booking inventory authority of a PMS.
Review the first Property
Open Settings, then Properties, and select the Property created during setup. Owners and administrators can create and edit Properties; other roles can view only the Properties assigned to them.
The edit form contains:
- required name, Property type, timezone and default language;
- optional accommodation-unit count, email, phone, website, address, city and country;
- an optional logo used in supported guest-facing screens;
- public-survey privacy identity and contact fields;
- active or inactive status.
The accommodation-unit count describes capacity but does not create Unit records. The Property contact fields also do not automatically select the main person responsible for feedback; configure that separately in the feedback workflow settings.
An active Property can be used in normal workflows. Making it inactive does not erase its history. Plan limits can prevent creation or reactivation of another active Property.
Why the timezone matters
Choose the Property’s real IANA timezone. ELUNIA uses it for property-local stay groupings, stale departure guidance, reminders, Automations and daily operational timing. A checked-in Stay whose departure date has passed remains checked in until a person or connected provider changes it; the clock never performs checkout.
The compact arrival and departure totals on Today currently follow the application’s calendar day, while the detailed Stay operational groups and stale-stay checks use each Property timezone. Near a timezone boundary, use the Stay screen as the detailed operational reference.
Add Units
On the Property page, the Units section shows active Units by default, their type, status and whether they have Stay history.
You can:
- add one Unit with a unique name inside the Property;
- create a numbered range using a prefix, start, end and type, up to 250 Units at once;
- rename or change a Unit type;
- archive and restore Units;
- preview a bulk archive, restore, delete or sequential rename before confirming it.
Range creation stops if any generated name already exists. Permanent deletion is offered only for an unused Unit; Units with Stay history are preserved. Archiving a Unit removes it from new selection without deleting earlier Stays.
Use a Unit when you want consistent room-level filtering. Use Room / accommodation unit on the Stay form. Historical room text remains available as a display fallback when no Unit is selected.
If no Units exist, you can still create a Stay without one. Add Units before live operation when room-level consistency matters.
Next: Add your first Guest and Stay.
During setup, use Step 2 Rooms & units. Search matches room names and numeric room names sort naturally (R1, R2, R9, R10). Explicitly deferring units preserves your existing records. See Prepare your property.
